Basic Rule of Modals
Rule: Modal + base form of verb (no s, no to)
Example: He can play. (❌ can plays)
1. Can / Could (Ability, Permission, Request)
Q1. He ___ swim very fast. (can / could / may / must)
Answer: can swim
Rule: Can + base verb (ability)
Explanation: Shows present ability.
Hindi: वह बहुत तेज़ तैर सकता है।
Q2. ___ you help me? (Can / Must / Should / Might)
Answer: Can
Rule: Can is used for request.
Explanation: Polite request.
Hindi: क्या आप मेरी मदद कर सकते हैं?
Q3. She ___ speak English when she was five. (can / could / may / will)
Answer: could speak
Rule: Could = past ability
Hindi: वह पाँच साल की उम्र में अंग्रेज़ी बोल सकती थी।
2. May / Might (Permission, Possibility)

Rule: May for formal permission
Hindi: क्या मैं आपकी कलम इस्तेमाल कर सकता हूँ?

4. Shall / Should (Suggestion, Advice)

6. Ought to / Need / Dare
